ABOUT

Bassist Casandra (Cass) Faulconer knew from a young age that the feel of music begins in the bassline. She grew up in a musical family in Ontario and became part of the Thunder Bay music scene while still a teenager. After time in Toronto and on the road, she found her way to New Orleans, which has been her musical and literal home for over 20 years.

Great session bass players like “Duck” Dunn, James Jamerson, Carol Kaye, Chuck Rainey, and New Orleans great George Porter, Jr. have molded Cass's style. She has been trusted to bring that talent and vibe to recordings by producers including John Porter, John Chelew, and Anders Osborne. And you've likely danced to her grooves at live shows with Papa Mali, Cowboy Mouth, Charmaine Neville, and many other artists in just about every genre. She also works to educate musicians of all ages by teaching privately, and at Loyola University.

As a highly sought-after band member and session player, Cass has traveled the globe to support world-class artists and productions on three continents. Cass was a musician and bandleader for Cirque du Soleil, a member of Cowboy Mouth playing elite venues, and a cornerstone member of the house rhythm section for WWOZ Piano Night, where she accompanied Dr. John, Eddie Bo, Marcia Ball, and many others. She has performed at festivals spanning New York and New Orleans to Monterey and Ascona.

Her wealth of experience, from music studies at Humber College to real world tours and studio sessions, provides a deep well to draw from to express her truest passion; supporting artists by deeply listening to their music and stories, and helping to bring their vision to life. Wherever she is, you know it’s going to feel good.
